Heucheras - how do you split them? Mine looks as though it has lots of potential new plants but none of them are actually rooted - do they grow roots if you just cut them off and pot them up?

I just take mine out of their pots and tease apart and fantastic new plants.

That is what I meant too..tease them apart to split them..I didn't go in like a bull at a gate :o)

My poor stoplight nearly died from an attack of the vineweevils, hardly a root left but it recovered with intensive care until the hot sun got it!
Well -- it was then I saw the lovely blog about mixing colours so potted it up with Royal Purple......finally its starting to look happier and I,ve decided that they are tougher than they look!

Pam, I found Stoplight was a bit on the fussy side - couldn't bear much sun and doesn't like to be dry - its struggling along. As mine are in the ground not pots they have to put up with what's there! Mixing colours is very effective - I just bought a grey and burgundy one - something sugar I think, hopeless at remembering names these days, and it looks great next to a red one with frilly edges.
OK Bloomer and Scotkat, looks as though I have to take the bull by the horns then. Its frustrating as it's bushed out very well and looks as though there are several likely bits rooted already, but when you look they haven't a root between them.
Thank you everybody for your answers.

I wasn't sure what to do with mine either,Sue,so I just dug one up and split it..no problem. as they both grew well,so I did the same with another one..they are all quite big this year,so I will do the same again..it works for me..
