In the lawn or the borders/beds?

Hi, for the moss, the best way is to get rid of the conditions which allow the moss to grow,ie dark and damp, if you have poor drainage and dark shade, you will always get moss, the other weeds need to be dug out to start with, and then regular hoeing, at least once a week, or if they're in your lawn, regular mowing will help, and a weed and feed and moss killer in the spring, you can also aereate your lawn, either by hiring a machine or by using a garden fork, and sprinkling sharp sand into the holes, you can also apply an autumn top dressing, Derek.

Another tip re moss in the lawn is not to mow too closely so that the grass is strong enough to compete.

If you live surrounded by tall trees [like me] then it seems to be impossible. We have tried everything on the market, but the conditions [ie tall trees] can't be altered, so in the end, nothing works. Think the best idea [if you are talking about the lawn] is to take the grass away altogether, and have gravel paths and beds.
