I have just cut down a blackthorn type hedge to ground level . when is the best time to paint the stumps with stump killer . ? straight away , or when the stumps start to sprout ?

I would think now would be fine as the poison soaks into the stump.....does it not tell you in the instructions?

I'd do it know too. and then re-treat if it sprouts at all.

How different all our gardens are - I'm trying to grow a blackthorn/hawthorn hedge.

Drill holes in the blackthorn stumps, pour in SBK neat and plug with putty to avoid spillage. This will penetrate the roots before they start to grow again.

How do I say thanks?
