Tomato remains

Hi
I grow tomatoes in pots. At the end of a season, is there an alternative to taking the whole pot contents to the tip. My garden is small and now overflowing with soil.

Hi, welcome to G o y, I don't understand when you say your small garden is overflowing with soil, you can't possibly have too much soil in a garden, the only way that would happen is if you had a concrete back yard, part of which you had broken up and built a raised bed, which had now reached the top of the bed, if this is the case, why not ask your neighbours if they would like some compost for their beds, or a friend with a larger garden, other than that I'm afraid it's the tip, Derek.

Re use the compost.

Thanks to all. I had thought that, having spent the summer extracting the goodness from the soil, that soil would be exhausted. So I presume that it can be re-enriched with new compost. Thanks again.

Try keeping it and just adding some Growmore or something before you use it again. Or you could put it in pots, feed it a bit and grow bulbs in it for Spring.
