These are my Michaelmas daisies ( Asters ) last year , but this year they are much later and only just starting to flower now, has anyone else experienced this ? Roy.

There"s still a couple of days 'til Michaelmas so if they are flowering now then they are on time - or even early!

Not amongst my favourite flowers - I don't know why but they always make me think of earwigs and a beetle that we used to call a bloodsucker (probably for no other reason than that it was red).

Yes i have to agree with you, i have many types of Aster on my allotments and compared to past years they are later flowering, having said that i have noted many plants and perennials this year being behind on flowering, we have to cast our mind back to March where we had severe frosts and heavy snowfall for the last two weeks of that month, this maybe the cause.

Possibly some are forced to flower early for sales purposes.

I think it's a good thing that they're coming into bloom now Roy when most other flowers are dying off for the winter. You will be able to enjoy the lovely blooms in what would otherwise be a rather sparse garden devoid of colour.

Mine are starting to flower now, every year I hope they beat the frosts.
