Saruma henryi.
Does any one grow this? I have seen it in a cataloge today and I am very tempted. But any experience of it anyone?

I'd read that about its name. Yes I am very tempted to get one or two. As you know my garden is very shady so it should/will look good in there.

Guess what - I'm growng it! Planted it nearly three years ago in shade in a fairly heavy peice of soil and it's never looked back (although I have a book that says give it a sandy soil). It's on page 6 of my Garden plants, first photo gives my experiences on it.

I am familiar with it only as one of the owners of Crug nursery discovered it on a field trip to the far east and being related to Asarum though not quite the same a new genus was created for it by simply rearranging the letters to make Saruma. Typical woodland conditions. Tempted to get one......
