i made 2 planters for gaynor good big ones ,and filled with multi purpose compost approx 2 foot deep she put lots of bulbs in,now how long will this compost support bulbs the bulbs were mixed ones from home base 3 boxes for price of 2 all bulbs firm and clean,shared between the 2 boxes over planted with forget me nots of which we have hundreds of

YOu might want to feed the bulbs whilst the foliage is still present - you can either topdress with something like Growmore granules and stir them in, or use liquid feed for 3 or4 weeks until the foliage has died off. Don't have to feed while the flowers are present, but it is worth feeding when they've faded, because that's when the bulb is storing food for the following year. It works on bulbs in open ground too, but the fact is, bulbs in pots have less access to nutrients than they do in open ground.

I should think they might only need a bit of bonemeal or blood fish and bone,or similar, when they have finished flowering,Snoop..other wise they should be fine .it will boost them for next year..maybe just top up with a little fresh compost ..other than that,nothing really..The ones in the garden always come up the following year,mostly without any help at all..look at all those on the roadside,and parks etc..they manage ok on their own..
