What is the best way to plant crown imperial bulbs, please?

Answers

Fritillaria imperialis. They like a humusy but well drained soil in a position where the bulb will stay cool and shaded but the flowering stems grow up into the sun. Dig some manure, compost or bonemeal into the soil then dig individual holes so that you can put a small handfull of grit (drainage) in the bottom and the top of the bulb will be about 6" below the surface. Plant about 8" to 10" appart and they will bulk up to form a clump.
