is their any other way as I have done this with my geriams not very good by wraping in newspaper more promising in pots but then some go mouldy and have to throw away

You need good ventilation and it must be frost free. Keep everything, including the plants, very dry.

Keep the soil almost dry, and as Badfish said, in a frost free airy place or they will go soft and rot.
