Hi everyone,
Just bought a Japanese maple(Acer). Some of the branches are a little "straggly". Can i cut these off? How do i look after it? Sorry for all the Q's but i am very much a novice and the plant was expensive too.
Many thanks in advance for your replies,
Much appreciated.
Regards
Mark

Wait until after the leaves have fallen to prune and do so very lightly simply to tidy up. Is the acer in the ground or in a container?

Hi.
Thanks for that. I have just planted it in the ground with stones around root ball for protection.

Um it does not need stones for protection... is your soil acidic or alkaline?

Hope you have planted it in part shade to avoid leaf scorch, and sheltered from strong winds for the same reason. If not, best move it now before it settles in.

How do I say thanks?
