I have bough a plant called Japanese Gentian "Florist Blue".....such a beautiful rich colour. I have not yet transpanted it to the garden, thinking it may be better to winter over (in NZ) in a larger pot, and then I shall plant it out in the Spring. Does anyone have experience of this plant, please? Are they difficult to grow?

This is the Gentiana scabra, a native of Japan (as the name suggests) and North America. It is quite hardy and should be OK in NZ.
give it a moist, humus rich soil in a shady site, acid rather than alkaline soil. It is one of the late summer flowering gentians.
