I've bought a shogetsu flowering cherry to plant in a flowerbed to the side of my house. I intend to under plant with shade loving plants. Now I'm worried about the root system of the tree..... Are they deep rooted or shallow rooted. Will the tree cause structural problems?

Cherries are shallow rooting and hate root disturbance, so planting or cultivating the soil underneath them isn't really an option. I wouldn't recommend planting any tree within 20 feet for a small tree, 30 feet for one up to 30 feet of a house wall, and for larger trees, 45 feet away.
