We want to plant a grape vine for it's fruit and leaf colour, to grow up a wooden trellis in a west facing garden in London i.e. not full sun all day and clay soil. Which variety would you recommend? Many thanks.

Just want to say you're unlikely to get much of a grape crop in a west facing position - not enough sun to ripen any fruit which forms, and the vine will only reliably produce fruit outside in good summers. Under glass, much more successful, but you still need plenty of sun for ripening and sweetening the fruit.

Also grape vines are not that fond of clay soil... they do best on a very poor shaley soil

How do I say thanks?
