Having removed the bedding plants from a raised bed yesterday I now want to feed the soil over the winter. There are climbing roses in it but nothing else. Not sure if I should dig some goodness in (well rotted manure?) or spread it on the surface only and let it break down. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for that. I haven't got the manure yet but am guessing that would be the best thing to use.

Only if it is well rotted though Wendy, otherwise use soil improver or compost from GC or your own compost.

If you have well rotted manure then spread on the surface and let the weather take it down over winter.
