Well, as I said, if you're not sure, what's really important is whether there's green growth at the top - if not, you will have to wait till mid May to see if the plant recovers and starts growing again. You can cut off any dead or dying leaves at the base of their stems, near the trunk.

Which palm is it? If its losing some leaves, but is still green and healthy higher up, it's probably fine, but I don't know which palm you're talking about.
