My palm tree has suffered this winter even though I had the leaves tied up for the worst part. Over 90% of the leaves have nw turned black & dropped off & the remainder dont look to healthy. The palm is a few years old & stands about 12ft tall. Is it dead or will it make a return to life.

Only time will tell, I'm afraid - if the growing tip hasn't been damaged, it will put out new growth from the top - you should see some signs of growth by mid May - if not, it's a goner.
