death of established plants after this harsh winter, how long should I wait to see if it has really died, or just still in shock, Pittisporum Tom thumb, Myrtle just two which are looking decidedly brown.

Thank you, some of my favourite shrubs have suffered terribly. The garden really took a hammering this winter. Now the rabbits are scutting up any life emerging, - Clay, Rabbits & harsh winter. Its soul destroying.

Oh, don't be down hearted! the sun will soon come out and things will grow so fast that the rabbits won't keep up with them!

I'd wait until June, as some things can take a while to initiate new buds. However you can trim off any ugly bits if they look too bad. Or pick off brown leaves.
