Looks more like a shrub rose to me. Put Kudzu flowers images into Google and you'll see the difference.

Looks like Rosa rugosa to me, they do take over if allowed, I have the same here.

Have nice hips though.

Thanks. I noticed the difference in flowers. Just could not tell if the rose was actually the entire bush or just growing through it.

To satisfy yourself go and have a look whether all the stems are prickly. There will be a marked difference between stiff rose stems and twining vine stems.
