AFTER SCARIFYING DO YOU SEED OR FEED

Answers

Scarifying is when you nick or sandpaper a seeds' coating so that it will absorb water and begin the germination process. This is done for seeds that have hard shells. So generally the next step is to soak in warm water for 12 - 24 hours (sometimes 48) changing the water once or twice. Viable seeds will swell and should be sown in "dirt" to germinate.

scarifying a lawn means cutting the surface thatch which builds up and removing it. It needs to be done over the winter when the lawn is dormant. A spring feed of a high nitrogen type will be good to green it up. Professional lawn keepers do not use 3 in 1 weed and feed and frown on its use. urea is a good food. Verdone is what my husband uses on ours and it works well.
