I have a snowdrop-type plant that flowers late winter/early spring with single flowers that look like leucojum but the flowers are borne on short stems, not much longer than a snowdrop. Any ideas what they might be?

They could be a snowdrop as there are several species as well as varieties.
could you give more info ie height leaf width etc. or better still a photo.
It seems very early for leucojum.

Yes, I'd have thought so too, but Broadleigh Garden's catalogue refers to Vernum as 'Feb flowering'. It must surely be a bit later than that. (Mind you, they are in Somerset).

It sounds like Leucojum 'Vernum'. 10" height, Feb flowering.
