I planted autumn fruiting raspberries in Nov 09. The canes are about 25cm tall. One of them already has a new shoot about half way up the cane. Should I be cutting them down to the ground now or leave them as they are ?

Autumn fruiting raspberries carry the crop on canes that grow in the same year so all top growth can be cut to the ground in early spring. However I heard last year that any canes that are brown (as opposed to grey) can be left as they will carry fruit in the summer (although I haven't tried this yet).
As your plants are new, I would be inclined to cut them down and give them a good feed to encourage them to establish
