Happy in normal multi-purpose though make sure you use a coarser type for free drainage. You can buy specific African Violet compost made by J. Arthur Bowers. There should initially be enough food in the compost without any need to feed though after maybe 6-8 weeks, a propitiatory liquid feed can be used every few weeks thereafter.
