The oozing spots are only on the trunk. Most of the leaves have been hit with the frost and are brown.

I think this is a reference to previous question on a sick cordyline - if the leaves are dying back and the plant isn't growing, I'd get rid of it - sounds like an infection of some kind (possibly caused by the cold winter).

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I feel it is an infection and will probably get rid of it. I do not want it to infect anything else in the garden.
