Someone sent a Hyacinth plant to my father's funeral, and I would like to plant it outdoors. It is the end of March in Illinois, and I was wondering how I could keep this to come up for next year. It is in a pot on the house right now, and it is blooming now. Can I just plant it outdoors the way that it is now? Any other suggestions?

Wait till the flower dies back and then plant outside, unless its very cold at the time, in which case wait till the weather warms a bit.
