Previous question
« have cordyline about 4 years old. trimmed back all leaves to stem early this year...
Next question
You could try Photinia 'Red Robin' which has bright red young foliage in the spring and is evergreen so will give you colour and protection all year.
Or Aucuba japonica 'variegata' or 'crotonifolia' which is also evergreen, dark green leaves with yellow splashes of colour and red berries. Beech hedges are deciduous but retain their old leaves over winter, only losing them as the fresh new growth comes through in the spring. Beech keeps its shape well with just a little trimming/pruning.
