Thank you for all your help. I was looking for creeping plants, but I think I will now have a complete rethink. Hopefully I may be able to post a photo in a few months time when this area is planted

is this the shaded area?
I grow these ground creepers Ajuga [variegated leaves too as well as blue flowers or a pink form too], Pachysandra [all green and variegated forms], Mitella, Pachyphragma. There are others but I'd need to go and rummage through my plant profile. I have ferns interspersed through them too.
