Doesn't this depend on two factors, Guest -
1) How big is the pot, and
2) How big is the Camellia - has it or is it likely to outgrow the pot?
If you do grow one in a pot, it has to be in ericaeous compost, and you need to feed it as well as scraping off the top of the compost and renewing it every year.
I have one in a pot, but only because my soil isn't acid, otherwise it would be planted out.
