Unless your garden is also shaded by neighbouring trees, houses or high fences, north facing is actually very sunny during the summer months, just not in the winter. I had a northfacing back garden, and grew anything I fancied, taking care to put the more sunloving stuff near the top end and on the west side, that being the sunniest. The majority of plants like part sun part shade anyway.

Both will grow as mine is north facing, and I grow both especially camellias, just be careful that you plant camellias away from the morning sun and slightly sheltered and then everything should grow quite happily. Have fun.
