Frost damage to bay tree leaves turning them all black

Hi, we have 3 topary large bay trees in our garden, sadly after a hard cold winter, all the leaves have turned black/dark brown (looks dead), what should i do with them i have spoken to a few friends and their bay trees seem to be the same and no one seems to know what to do, please help? Try a scratch test to see if they're dead. Scrape off a small area of bark, and if the wood underneath is green, it's still alive and there's hope - if brown, sorry, the bay is an ex-bay. This winter damaged or killed a lot of plants and shribs, sadly.
