why has my roses never got many leaves

they are climbing roses in open ground. I feed multi purpose plant food. Have had them for about ten years. The flowers are beautiful but leaves are few. I prune them each year. they sometimes have black spot, but not much else. I do spray them if I see any festation. they do look healthy....

A lot of climbing roses don't have masses of leaves, but if your plants are healthy and doing well, then it's probably just the variety you have chosen to plant - roses are principally grown for their flowers rather than the beauty and shapeliness of the actual plant, after all.

Oh dear, more info required - what kind of rose, where is it growing (in a pot, in the open garden) how long have you had it, have you ever pruned it or fed it, is it infested...
