Could someone reccommend a Clematis suitable for a large pot on an east wall please. I lost the evergreen one I had in the cold winter this year.

There are so many! The best bet is to go to the Garden Centre and pick one that you like. If it's a very large pot, you could even plant two in there in the same planting hole! If you do that, make sure they're the same pruning group, though, and not over-vigoorous ones.

There are plenty of clematis out there bred for containers.
