Can anyone please tell do they know which variety of Camellia, drops it's flowers after they have fade. In this area everyone seems to have a red one and the flowers just go brown and stay on the plant.

IME, the more double a Camellia is (the more petals it has) the more the petals tend to hang on. Single, semidouble, and some of the rose-form types just drop right off--though the seed pods should be removed anyway. Formal doubles, full rose-forms, peony-forms, and some of the more congested anemone forms tend to hang on.
