Can I ask where the plant is growing, in a pot or in the ground, and how long you've had it?

Hi Bamboo, I have had them for two years, they are a small boundary hedge to replace old conifers. Regards barnbybush

This looks most like drought damage, or possibly cold/wind damage. Check the bushes for signs of infestation by anything at all, on the bark, back of the leaves, and new shoots, see if there's anything there. Feed with Growmore raked around the base to help them recover.
