potato fruits look like tomatoes and are poisonous apparently. but most of the solanum family has to be treated as such.

Appart from the underground tubers of the plants that we grow as vegetable garden 'potatoes' I would think it safest to assume that everything else in the Solanum family is poisonous. Sorry, those red things on tomatoes are also safe to eat.
