I planted mine out in late may so the early leaves werent got by late frosts. Mine dont show til late May. I just hope they survived the winter.
Dorjac you give me hope .

Forgot to say I have some out in the garden too Sanbaz. They burrow deep over time. They shoot very late, so that every year, I think the've given up, then up they come. The only trouble is that everything has grown so much, they have a job to assert themselves. Better in pots I think, on the whole.

To add another bit to the response Sanbaz. Your question pushed me into sorting out one pot. I decanted it and found four vine weevil maggots lurking, ready to eat the nice tender roots as they grow. The oldest bulb was a bit quishy in parts. As a point of interest tiny little plants were germinating in the gunge.....Encomis as far as i could see. I planted a very large bulb with a green shoot at the top and 4 healthy looking offshoots. Replaced the moss. Watered it. Into a sheltered spot and wait and see.

Mine have been out all winter Sanbaz. They are huge elderly bulbs. I think they would be all mushy if they had died. Still have to explore the pots for vine weevil grubs this year, rather than a provado drench. They are a late shooting bulb so I still have time. The top growth goes to mush in a frost in autumn.
