last years leeks
still in the ground - didn`t pull them up as thy where not growing very big there looking better now but will they be ok to leave in and will they still be edible ?

We still had 8 leeks in the ground until a few days ago when we decided to pull them up - luckily only two had gone "woody" - the others are fine.

I would have expected the central stem to have gone woody over winter. You can try pulling one and cutting open to see.
