Hollyhock problems!

Last year I planted a couple of Hollyhock roots. They were beautiful, full of flowers. They suffered a bit though, with leaves full of holes and a few going brown and dying off. This year has been a disaster! They are flowering, but seem to be struggling against whatever desease/illness/pest that seems to be really going for their leaves. Most of the leaves are dead or dying, full of small holes, like last year but much worse. What is the problem? What can I do to rectify this for next year?

Hollyhock rust.
Cut off the offending leaves and burn or put in a bag in the bin. Fingers crossed.

Rust is a real problem with hollyhocks, all you can do is burn the plants and start again next year.
