Garrya elliptica (not strictly a climber, but does the same job), or Hydrangea petiolaris, or Parthenocissus henryana.

Is the Parthenocissus the Chinese Virginia Creeper? If so that is very much recommended for north facing walls as lots of our neighbours have them and they are thriving.

Yes. It was shown on Gardeners World a couple of weeks ago. It has attractive leaves and is not as rampant as the other type.
