can I plant my blueberry tree straight into my garden instead of buying eriaceous compost first?

If you think your soil is acidic, then fine - if its alkaline, it won't do too well.

I have planted directly into the neutral soil. Treat them as you would heather or rhododendrons in your garden.

Maybe they're thinking of Japanese Blueberry Tree? Or does that grow "over there"?

I think it would be borderline hardy but that could be what Guest means - no way to know!
