Which variety of gaultheria has tastiest berries to eat raw, or make jam from? (I want to use a a ground cover under trees.)

As far as I know, Gaultheria procumbens, the basic species, is the only one that has edible fruits - they're not exactly tasty, being slightly minty (commonly called wintergreen, that might give you a clue as to flavour) and this plant isn't usually grown for the tastiness of its berries, raw or otherwise, though can be used for tea making if dried and prepared properly.
