Thanks everyone. The roses were sprayed before the fuschias went in but maybe some residue on/in the soil? But is only one of the four.
The garden was not a garden with beds last year so this is a brand new bed in the past 3months so not really subject to the wetness of the snow etc. However, I take your thoughts and now it is raining here (hampshire) no more artificial watering--and won't be for a few days when it stops.
