The tried and tested method is to poke small canes in at intervals where the bindweed is growing, let it climb up and then paint the growing tips with systemic weedkiller. This takes the 'poison' down into the roots as well as killing the top growth. Hope this helps! Make sure you wear disposable gloves, won't you!!!!
