My mother said I could have the bluebells that are in her chicken pen but when I dug them up, the bulbs were all slimy. Does this mean they are rotting? Is it OK to plant them with the non-slimy bulbs I have from my garden?

Depends what you mean by slimy - they should look white, often oddly shaped, and feel slightly slimy to the touch, but not look black, brown or soggy, and not be smelly either.

I dug some up last year which were quite big but they were not slimy just sort of damp. I would not put them with other bulbs? why not put them to dry and see what happens?
