I have I think an Corydline Australis, which I've had as a small plant. This is in a sheltered postition next to our bungalow. I've had this plant nearly 10yrs. It is now up to the roof in height and has for the first time signs of flowers to come. Is this usual?

No, these will flower if they are in a sheltered postion. You are lucky to still have a live one as most questions on this plant are 'has it died?'
