I have lavendar in a container with some other flowers but they always seem to die. Could the the lavendar be causing it or something else

Won't be the lavender - you don't say how big the tub is, but a lavender takes up quite a bit of root room, so its possible the container's not big enough for anything else to be able to grow properly.

Some flowers will cause others to become ill or die by emitting chemicals. But can't be 100% sure if this is the problem with yours.
