there is a mass off small quite fine white live roots- that look like a pot bound plant- in a raised bed that I am clearing. They don't belong to any plant are not sendiing up any kind of leaf (plant or weed) and are not attached to anything but seem to have filled the whole bed as a mass. Two sides of this small bed 4' x 4' are brick walls and the front of it are bricks about 1 in height. Help please

This sounds as if it could be the rhizomes of a fungus. Have you used spent mushroom compost on the bed? If you hasve used mushroom compost then I would leaver it and hope :-). If not, I suppose that you should try and dig it out.
