After the winter we've just had my dicksonia does not seem very well at all. I left last year's growth as long as possible and only cut it off when the fronds became brittle, almost, and one or two had snapped off by themselves. To begin with it looked like it would grow new fronds as normal, but sadly, a month later it has only managed two fronds. Don't know if it is my imagination, but the two fronds seem to have taken longer than normal to open up. The middle doesn't seem to be mushy at all-nosign of any more fronds though! Does anyone know what I should do next? My dicksonia is about 4 ft. tall and has been in the garden for 4/5 years.Fred

Well at least it came through the winter, even if the growth isn't prolific. Situation won't be helped by the sudden cooler temperatures we're having now. Not much you can do except to shelter it from cold northerly winds and from frost as far as possible. Hopefully it will recover and grow later in the season -bear in mind everything's later this year because of the extreme winter.
