I have a clematis which has good foliage but few flowers - any suggestions

Whatever variety it is (and Bamboo is right, we do need to know) it's still very early for flowers. My Montana Elizabeth is my earliest and is still in bud. My Jackmanii is my latest I think and that doesn't show a flower until late July.
