I am looking for some hardy shrubs to plant in poor
soil that hasnt been tended for years. I am just starting
to add compost to build the soil up.I love gardening but am a real novice. learning as I go along - trial and error.
Great fun though .Kate

Plenty of hardy shrubs, what size do you want them to get to, roughly?
That said, pay attention to the soil, as you're starting to do, first. Add as much humus rich material (garden compost, organic soil conditioning compost from the garden centre, leaf mould, spent mushroom compost, anything you can get hold of like that) and dig the soil over. When you're ready to plant, use some Fish Blood and Bone at the bottom of the planting hole, together with a handful of Growmore granules.

How do I say thanks?
