My small Acer BRILLIANTISSIMUM has grown a branch which is much taller than all the others! Also the leaves are dark green, whilst the rest of the tree is a beautiful pink. IS THIS A PROBLEM ??????

If possible spot them when they are small and rub them off - too late to do so with the large branch, as Bamboo says all you cna do with that is cut it off.

Thanks Bamboo and Moon Grower. Very very helpful....thought it was a problem...looked like a "sucker" that grows on rose trees...I am so grateful to you both..thanks again.

You're welcome Christine - that is exactly what it is a sucker

Cut it out at the base of its stem, where it's growing from, together with any other growth that looks like it might be similar. This is reversion, and will take over the tree if left unattended. Keep an eye on it in future for more shoots.
